
The South of Broadway Neighborhood Association was formed during the pandemic of 2020 by residents of the historic Thierman Building.
PURPOSE
The purpose of the Association is to promote neighborhood improvements within its boundaries as a charitable IRS 501(c)(3) organization.
The SoBro Neighborhood Association shall foster community activities that bring people together in a common purpose to promote within the boundaries of the Association historic preservation, the arts and literature, education, renewable energy, and humanitarian services to the homeless and poor.
GEOGRAPHIC BOUNDARIES
The Association boundaries are defined by the SoBro Neighborhood Plan that was adopted by the City of Louisville, Kentucky on October 26, 2007.
Designed by renowned architect James J. Gaffney, constructed in 1912, the Thierman Building represents the unique character of the history of SoBro’s residential buildings that were built during the Progressive Era in America, and is a registered landmark on the National Register of Historic Places with the U.S. Department of Interior.
The Thierman community is racially diverse and is motivated to help improve our neighborhood.
Each of the 24-units in the Thierman Building have unique architectural features like this stain glass window in each of the dinning rooms.
